Join Nordic RCC, a fast-developing company providing regional power system planning data and security analysis to support the national Transmission System Operators of Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark to ensure the efficient operation of the Nordic Power System and high security of power supply at any time.
Job description
As a Data Scientist in our Analytics team, you will collaborate with power engineers, IT specialists and application developers gathering insights and driving innovation to improve our processes. Your role will involve interpreting and analyzing data from various sources, working closely with engineers to visualize findings, and proposing solutions to complex challenges within the energy sector. The work is highly explorative and dynamic. It is therefore important that you have a proactive, innovative mindset, and are not afraid to challenge status quo and approach an issue in a new way. With a combination of programming, mathematical modeling, and data visualization skills, you will play a crucial role in shaping our approach to business challenges and in optimizing our processes and data quality.
Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:
- Collaborate with power engineers and IT specialists to define problem formulations for business challenges.
- Apply expertise in data science, modelling, mathematics, statistics, and data visualization to identify potential issues and propose new ways to improve the quality of the data and the process.
- Work together with application developers and engineers to develop tools and applications for data science, back-office, and operational support.
- Design, together with engineers and developers, ways to visualize and communicate large amounts of complex information in a clear and easily understandable way.
- Communicate important information and insights to engineers and IT experts, as well as to management using effective and intuitive graphical representations.
- Identify possible data sets to solve a problem and the sources for this data.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidates will most likely have
- A master’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field.
- Experience working as a data scientist, preferably in a relevant industry.
Additionally, you should have:
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with C#, SQL, R and Spark are advantageous, but is not a requirement.
- Knowledge of common machine learning libraries and algorithms.
- Proficiency in data visualization.
- A proactive mindset with willingness to challenge status quo and to explore new approaches.
- Strong teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Knowledge of the energy sector and power systems are an advantage, but not a requirement.

The Data & Analytics department is a recently established department with expertise in data architecture, data science, power system engineering, and we are now hiring another data scientist to increase our ability to deliver data insight and quality improvement to our services. It is a small department with a young, enthusiastic, and curious team with an informal work atmosphere, where you can be sure to make an impact.
Your daily workplace will be in our newly furnished office premises in Copenhagen Towers, Ørestad.
