Senior Power System Engineer at the Heart of the Nordic Green Transition
Are you motivated by contributing to a greener future and shaping a fully carbon-neutral, sustainable energy system? Do you thrive in a collaborative, international environment where diverse perspectives strengthen outcomes?
Nordic RCC – supporting security of supply and the green energy transition
Nordic Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) provides essential services and insights to support the national Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark — ensuring efficient operation of the Nordic power system and a high level of security of supply. Based in Copenhagen, Nordic RCC is one of six RCCs in Europe and is jointly owned by the Nordic region’s four electricity TSOs: Fingrid, Statnett, Svenska Kraftnät, and Energinet.
As European power systems evolve to meet climate goals, Nordic RCC delivers regional coordination, integrated services, and actionable insights to support cross-border operational security 24/7.
Nordic RCC is a growing organization committed to making a meaningful impact in the energy sector and enabling a secure, efficient transition to a sustainable energy future. We are now looking for a Senior Power System Engineer who is excited to contribute to this mission.
Job description
As part of the Grid Modelling and Alignment team, you will help develop and enhance the Nordic Common Grid Model (CGM) and the associated alignment data that underpin secure power markets and security of supply. In this role, you will contribute to business process development, power system analyses, continuous quality improvements, and coordination with a broad range of stakeholders.
You will work with CGMs across several time horizons — some fully implemented and others still under development — giving you the opportunity to shape both ongoing improvements and future processes.
Within the Data and Analytics department, you will join a community focused on insights, quality improvements, and continuous performance monitoring. We value curiosity, collaboration, and flexibility.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Power System Engineer in Grid Modelling and Alignment, you will join a supportive team of engineers working across grid modelling, business process development, and analytics. You will play an important role in maintaining and improving the CGM.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Conducting grid model analyses in close collaboration with model end users
- Enhancing and maintaining data quality from both a modelling and operational perspective
- Providing grid modelling expertise to colleagues across the organization
- Testing new functionality in load flow tools and contributing to business requirements
- Supporting TSOs in improving the accuracy and representation of their grid models
- Coordinating with TSOs, tool vendors, and Nordic RCC service teams
- Participating in international development projects, including work with ENTSO‑E
- Contributing to the development of tools used in operations and back-office functions
Requirements
You hold an MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on power systems and electricity markets. You are comfortable working with data sets and ideally bring at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Additional beneficial competencies:
- Experience with power system simulation tools (POWSYBL, PowerFactory)
- Programming or scripting skills (Python)
- Knowledge of the Common Grid Model Exchange Standard (CGMES)
We welcome candidates who enjoy solving complex challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to shared goals. A good understanding of data relations and operational business processes is an advantage.
You will thrive in this role if you
- Enjoy working in a team while also being able to organize your own tasks
- Appreciate structure and clarity in your work
- Communicate comfortably in different settings
- Take responsibility and contribute positively to a supportive team culture
What We Offer
You will join a diverse, welcoming, and highly skilled team. Our organization includes colleagues from 24 nationalities, with more than 30% women — and we are committed to strengthening this balance further.

Our values — fellowship, curiosity, respect, and transparency — guide how we collaborate and support one another. We hope you see yourself reflected in them.
The position is conditioned upon a satisfactory background check as well as a national security clearance, both of which will be facilitated by Nordic RCC. You can read more on security clearance here. Please also note, that the process includes that any spouse, registered partner, cohabitant, steady partner, co-resident, child over 18 living at home and parent with the same address as the candidate must also consent to be examined.
