Software Tester & Quality Specialist – supporting security of supply and the green energy transition

Nordic Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) provides critical services and insights to support the national Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark — to ensure the efficient operation and use of the Nordic power system and high security of power supply at any time. 

Based in Copenhagen, Nordic RCC is one of six RCCs in Europe, equally owned by the Nordic region's four electricity TSOs: Fingrid, Statnett, Svenska Kraftnät, and Energinet. 

As European power systems integrate and evolve to meet climate goals, Nordic RCC provides regional coordination, integrated services, regional insights and recommendations to the Nordic TSOs and their control centres, to support cross-border operational security 24/7.

Right now, we are looking for a Software Tester & Quality Specialist who likes to make a difference! 

Job description: 

As a Software Tester & Quality Specialist in the Quality Management team, you will work closely with developers, business experts, product owners, project managers, test managers, and fellow testers to help ensure the quality of Nordic RCC's systems and services.

We believe quality starts long before testing begins. Therefore, you will be involved early in the development process, helping teams identify risks, clarify requirements, and prepare testing activities before solutions are implemented. We are in the progress of strengthening our processes and “shifting-left” to achieve this target state.

You will contribute throughout the development lifecycle by reviewing acceptance criteria, creating test data, designing and executing tests, supporting business and operators is test decision and execution, and communicating test results and quality concerns. By working closely with both business and development teams, you will help ensure that quality is built into our solutions from the start.

Your key responsibilities are:

• Work closely with developers, business experts, product owners, project managers, test managers, and fellow testers throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in requirement reviews, refinement sessions, and solution discussions to identify risks, gaps, and testing needs as early as possible.
• Help ensure that testing considerations are included early in development activities and that quality is addressed before implementation is completed.
• Review requirements, user stories, and solution designs to identify potential risks, gaps, and ambiguities.
• Identify dependencies, prerequisites, and test data requirements for testing activities.
• Create, maintain, and analyse test data to support testing across different systems and environments.
• Design, maintain, and execute test cases and test scenarios based on business and technical requirements.
• Perform manual and exploratory testing to verify functionality, usability, integrations, and business processes.
• Identify, document, and follow up on defects and quality issues in collaboration with development teams and business stakeholders.
• Support investigation and root cause analysis of defects and recurring quality issues.
• Contribute test cases, effort estimates, dependencies, and risks as input to test planning activities.
• Document and communicate test results, findings, and quality concerns to support project and test management reporting.
• Collaborate with developers and test automation specialists to improve testing practices and automated quality controls.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methods, test data practices, and quality assurance processes across Nordic RCC.

Proactive position with outstanding attention to detail and excellent communication skills 

On the personal level you have attention to details, good communication and collaboration skills, analytical thinking and problem solving. You are a self-driven and proactive person, responsible, structured and have a strong focus on finding a solution to the problems at hand.

The ideal candidate is expected to have a minimum of 5 years in manual test experience, an education at BA or MA level in computer science or engineering, but experience from a similar role is more important.

Technical skills: 

• Collaborate with internal and external development teams in the CI/CD process. 
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc), tools, processes, and development cycles (SDLC). 
• Experience with test data creation
• Good understanding of test automation

Preferred Qualifications: 

• ISTQB certification or equivalent 
• Experience with test management tools - Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.
