Nordic RCC – supporting security of supply and the Green Transition

Based in Copenhagen, Nordic RCC embodies a strong Nordic collaboration across the Nordics TSOs (Energinet, Statnett, Fingrid and Svenska Kraftnät) and other European Regional Coordination Centers. In this collaboration, we empower the energy market in the Nordics and in Europe, as well as assist the TSOs in maintaining a reliable power supply now and in the future.

Nordic RCC contributes to safe operation of the Nordic power system and to optimize the power market domain. A key aim of the services provided by Nordic RCC is to ensure transparency and help the TSOs with operational planning to ensure continued security of supply with an increase of renewables in the system. In doing so, we will become an essential driver of the Nordic Green Transition and electrification in close collaboration with the Nordic TSOs.

We are looking for a Kubernetes/Infrastructure Specialist who likes to make a difference.

Kubernetes is becoming the leading platform for Nordic RCC, and we are focused on enhancing our internal expertise in this area. In this position, you will utilize your extensive experience with Kubernetes on Rancher management, working closely with our service provider to design, plan, maintain, and enhance our containerized environments. Furthermore, you will work alongside internal teams to oversee and improve the overall IT infrastructure, ensuring it adequately supports business functions. Key responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure & Security, and in close collaboration with your IT colleagues, your responsibilities are:

A.            Strategy & Governance

  • Contribute to strategies, policies and controls to secure solutions and operational environments.
  • Oversee the infrastructure and platforms used by the organization, including enabling the monitoring of technology solutions delivered within the organization and external service providers.

B.            Planning & Execution

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and plan complex IT infrastructure solutions that meet the company's current and future needs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Review and manage active risks and respond to security threats in collaboration with our outsourcing partner.
  • Provision technology infrastructure and platforms needed to support technology services and business needs in collaboration with our outsourcing partner.
  • Maintain infrastructure & platform configurations through maintenance, patching and improvements in collaboration with our outsourcing partner.

C.           Measurement & Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and optimization of IT infrastructure and systems, and lead initiatives to implement changes that enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Maximize automation of infrastructure and platform provisioning and management across products and environments.

D.           Key deliveries

  • Efficiently and effectively deliver technical components, including Kubernetes and traditional platform technologies.
  • Efficiently and effectively to meet technology capabilities and business requirements in partnership with our outsourcing partner.
  • Provide business support and ensure business issues and concerns are addressed.
  • Ensure end-to-end security of technology assets, data, and product capabilities.
  • Define, establish and maintain infrastructure architecture roadmap that guides development and evolution of technology components in alignment with RCC architectures in collaboration with our outsourcing partner.
  • Design, administrate and manage infrastructure components including end user devices, workplace solutions, servers, networking, storage, databases, as well as enable access to cloud based services in collaboration with our outsourcing partner.
  • Design and manage the requirements to the outsourcing partners and their performance in collaboration with IT Operations Management.
  • Participate in 24/7 on call duty roster.
  • Create and maintain documentation of IT infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures, and provide regular reports and updates to management on the status of infrastructure projects and initiatives in collaboration with our outsourcing partner.
  • Propose and coordinate choice of technologies and components with business and vendors.

Your work responsibilities and scope of work will develop over time as Nordic RCC develops and as you make your influence. You will work together with the Team Manager to structure the role, so it fits your profile and career development.

Structured, open minded and team oriented
Ideally, you have an IT-related education and +5 years of experience within enterprise Kubernetes and infrastructure environments.

We work with a wide range of technologies, for example Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, Rancher, Kubernetes, DMZ, MSSQL, SharePoint, Linux RHEL, and Cisco networks. It is therefore important that you have a broad technical profile, where you have a good knowledge of several of the above technologies.

Nordic RCC is an international office, so fluency in spoken and written English is required as well as a motivation for working in an international environment.

Other key skills are:

  • Knowledge of the energy or regulated sector is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
  • Broad conceptual knowledge of technologies.
  • Ability to recognize challenges early and proactively seek solutions.
